THE ASSEMBLY | #1 | Sept 2023

Hello!

In August, studio RALLYMADE celebrated its 2nd anniversary!

Looking back on the last couple of years, I’m so grateful to have worked with dozens of amazing clients on some fabulous projects incorporating both architecture & interior design services. A backyard home office where a therapist who works with children invited us to collaborate on a space full of whimsy & light inspired by the world of Harry Potter. A whole house remodel in the heart of the Alameda Neighborhood where a young family looks forward to opening & brightening up their 1940’s home. A seamless addition to a 1920’s Bungalow in Rose City Park which allowed for a former empty nester to welcome her recent college graduate to a newly expanded home, perfect for the both of them. All this variety is the spice of life (& business) so it seemed like the perfect time to launch a monthly newsletter to share studio happenings as well as news & inspiration.

Are you personally going through a transition such as becoming an empty nester, welcoming (back) new family members, or considering building a home studio or ADU? We have helped many clients as they negotiate these life milestones, so I invite you to connect & tell us more!

  • Kaan :: A truly memorable experience featuring Haitian cuisine from James Beard Award winning chef Gregory Gourdet located in inner-SE Portland. Not only amazing food with accompanying origin stories told by the fantastic staff but an immersive luxe environment celebrating the materiality of the Pacific Northwest (read bleached white oak, pops of gold amid verdant green hanging plants). Getting reservations is still challenging, but totally worth it! kannrestaurant.com

  • Mulnomah Village :: The beloved location of studio RALLYMADE headquarters. We share space with a dozen or so other micropreneurs in the heart of the village. • International Day of the Girl Celebration :: Did you know that In 2011, the United Nations established October 11th as International Day of the Girl to raise awareness about the unique challenges facing girls and women worldwide? As a member of Girls Inc. of the Pacific NW STEAM Taskforce, I invite you to our upcoming celebration featuring a keynote presentation by Karina LeBlanc, the GM of the Portland Thorns & founder of the Karina LeBlanc Foundation, a charity that empowers young women to find their inner greatness and purpose. See you there! girlsincpnw.org

  • Home on the Columbia River :: As the seasons change & we begin to spend more time inside due to the cooler temperatures, how do we ensure our homes have optimal air quality? This home was built with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s) which means the exterior walls are much thicker than typical wood-framed walls, are impervious to air infiltration including allergens & pollutants and this tight envelope ensures energy efficiency. Choosing to build with ICF’s is one option towards creating a comfortable & healthy interior environment, but what if you aren’t starting from scratch?
