Columbia River Gorge Home

Initially this home was meant to be a second home, a respite from urban stress. Over the course of the project, thanks to a growing family, this became the primary home. This is a perfect example of planning the flow of a home & then arriving at the ideal location based on spending time on site, engaging with views & embracing the natural patterns of the prevailing weather. This home was an idea borne of a family compound, a group of volumes connected by a flat-roofed connector. Sheathed in Shou Sugi Ban, torched Japanese Cypress, this element ensures longevity, improves fire retardancy & timeless beauty.
