The Friday Post: 9

Hellooooo! This is a busy weekend here in Austin. I’m going to do ACL weekend without ACL this year…meaning I’m going to try to go to all the post-ACL parties and shows I can find. Then recover, maybe even watch some football, and squeeze in some work.

A couple quick announcements:

1. Hey! You can now find Rally Made at the lovely Westlake store, Sanctuary. My goods will be alongside some really fantastic local and national designers, and am excited for my first store presence. Thanks Sanctuary!

2. You will also find me at Renegade Holiday Show, Nov. 24th-25th. Renegade is an amazing national event, so I am stoked to get to be a part of it.

And now, the good part.

  • The 50 best movies of the 90s. Definitely added some to Netflix queue.
  • The next PBS Digital Studios remix….Julia Childs. (My favorite is still Mr. Rogers.)
  • Mesmerizing.
  • Have you seen Jiro Dreams of Sushi? Well, apparently, eating at Jiro’s restaurant will cost you $380 and it will only last 19 minutes, roughly costing $20/minute. Still, customers say it’s worth it.
  • Ira Glass was on Reddit’s Ask Me Anything, and he was as wonderful as you would expect Ira Glass to be. Careful, you can lose track of time reading it.
  • October 20th is International Sloth Day. Prepare to celebrate the animal you love and don’t know why with this video. (Annnddd I just went down a sloth blackhole.)
  • Felix Baumgartner is jumping from 120,000 feet, from a stratospheric balloon, in an attempt to break the speed of sound in free fall. This has already been postponed twice, so here’s hoping it actually happens Sunday!

All you ACLers….stay hydrated and have fun! Everyone else have a fantastic weekend too!

The Friday Post: 8

I am off to Round Top/Warrenton today and I am SO EXCITED. For the unacquainted, Round Top is this tiny town about 90 minutes from Austin that holds a week long antiques fair twice a year, plus some shorter ones throughout the year. My mom and I first went together maybe two? years ago and I’ve been in love ever since. Miles and miles of just old stuff to pick through and admire. I love it so much I’m even considering making a second trip down on Saturday…if I have the energy.

I love it as much as Bill Cosby loves jello.

You know what else Bill Cosby loves? Links. Right?

Have a lovely super weekend e’erybody!

The Friday Post: 4

Well, I’ve been sick most of this week, which led to a little less productivity than I hoped. But! I did finish two custom pieces (pictures to come soon!) and am excited to deliver them to their new homes.

I’m off to Denver this weekend with the boyfriend, for some hopefully cooler air (highs are still in the 90s there, blech). And now, your weekly gif and some links.

  • Even if skating videos aren’t your thing, watch this one. It’s really quite beautiful.
  • Old Austin.
  • Tiny silk screens for your tiny projects! I want one.
  • If this doesn’t make you want to go to Iceland, then well, I just don’t know if we can be friends.
  • My new favorite tumblr. (Ok, let’s be honest here, I’ve just started this tumblr thing, so this is my first favorite. I have one, but I haven’t crossed over to posting just yet.)
  • El Cosmico: West Texas, music, and workshops. Anybody wanna go with me?

Hope everyone has a good, lazy holiday weekend!

The Friday Post, 3

Hello Friday! Nice to see you again. So soon too. Another week flew by, and I slacked on the daily posting. But hey, you guys, I want to write about interesting things, not just write every day. To make up for it though, I’ve got lots-o-links today.
And now, a gif.

  • Ahhh love me some Breaking Bad. Watched it last week at the Alamo and gotta say, big screen = rad. Also rad, this Breaking Bad art project.
  • A bit more on the why of Feliz, which really resonated with me. Missed what Feliz is? Check it.
  • I made these roasted chick peas last night. DELICIOUS. And actually legitimately easy. I don’t recommend eating in one sitting like I did.
  • A cat. Reading. On a mug.
  • Like Game of Thrones? Like cats? Watch this.
  • France in the year 2000, as imagined by artists in 1900. So close guys, so close.
  • Kaninhop, a.k.a. rabbit show jumping, is a real live thing. I recommend starting here to learn more. And then here.  And you can really just fall down a black of kaninhopping from there.
  • If you only click on one link, please, please let it be this one.
Ok, thats not a ton of links, but there you go. Happy weekend guys!

The Friday Post, 2

Whew! This has been a busy week. New part time job (more on that later!), a shop update (featuring my first ever gif), and lots of new projects in the works. My plans for the weekend are more wood hunting, checking out the Austin Craft Riot fair, and some much needed time at Barton Springs.

And now, one of my favorite gifs, just because, and some links.

Happy Friday and have a good weekend y’all!

The Friday Post

Friiddayyyyy! I’m feeling a bit tired this Friday, thanks to a late night game night, but am looking forward to a weekend in Austin. My out-of-town weekends tolerance is low, so only after 2 weekends elsewhere, I’m happy to settle in for some good ol’ Austin fun. AND the City-Wide Garage Sale is this weekend. Ready to spend some quality time at Palmer.

I’ll leave you with a couple photos from my week and some links.

My dad uses this box to store screws, nuts, bolts, all those sorts of things, and I really adore the design. I can’t really find anything on Lovera, but I’m assuming it’s a tobacco brand. Anyone know?

What I’m working on photographing today. Still working out how to get the best photos, which is surprisingly my least favorite part of running an Etsy shop.

Have a goodun y’all!

Friday, Friday

Yay Fridays! Even though I am pretty much working whenever (Saturdays and Sundays included), Fridays are still just…fun.

This weekend, I’m off to my parent’s house to work on a new project using some wood we bought at this place:

I’m super excited for this project as it’s been on my brain for a long time. Hope y’all have a good weekend! In the meantime, enjoy these links:

  • That mysterious black building next to Elizabeth St. Cafe has been driving me crazy, and finalllly know what it is! It’s the La Condesa’s team next venture…a Thai restaurant. I’m game.
  • I really love this wood type block.
  • Hah. Photographing other Olympic sports like women’s beach volleyball.
  • This isn’t that new, but this cat teepee is awesome.
  • 50 Things Every Creative Should Know
  • New store opening in Austin called Mockingbird Domestics that sounds super neat. And hey! I know that author.  AND at least one of the artistans with products there. So that’s rad.
